| Toilet paper tubes as wrapping paper holders. |
There were a number of Pinterest projects, big and small that I did this past Christmas season. I pinned so many great ideas, some were more for inspiration, some I truly intended to do. Having a 2 year old made a number of them fun and memorable, both for her and for me! We did Elf on the Shelf, and I got quite a few of my ideas from Pinterest pins. The biggest project I have undertaken so far was definitely G's Christmas present, a bunk bed for her dolls. I had found the plans several months ago and I knew that would be the perfect "big gift" to give her, made with love by mom. I still have a few little things to finish on it, and I do plan to paint it, but I wanted it done for her to play with for Christmas morning. She loved it and in the past few weeks has played with it a lot!
This week I was gone for a few days, so my weekly project was a super easy one. I have wanted to do this for a while, and have been saving toilet paper tubes for a few months. My wrapping paper is always a mess after Christmas, and I find that sometimes it gets torn, or wrinkled as it sits and waits for next year. I saw this pin and thought, "Ah ha!" what a brilliant idea! This took all of five minutes to do and now my wrapping paper is neat and organized for next year. Maybe you are thinking, "uh, why not use a rubber band?". Well, I've done this and over time, many cheap rubber bands (and let's face it, pretty much every rubber band is cheap) fall apart, lose their stretchyness, or even stick to the thing they are banded around, making a big melted rubber mess. Been there, done that. I'm optomistic that the toilet paper tubes will do a better job, not leave a little indentation where a rubber band would, and generally enjoy a second life as wrapping paper holders instead of toilet paper holders!
Until next week, find an easy project like this one, and just do it!
